Zamboanga as the Philippines




I have nothing but pity in my heart for the Chief Witness for the State. She is the victim of cruel poverty and ignorance. But, my pity does not extend so far as to her putting a man’s life at stake, which she has done in an effort to get rid of her own guilt.

Senatorial aspirant Jamby Madrigal’s lawyer did not choke on his words when he insisted that it was the candidate’s volunteers who are responsible for the social media “contest” that promised to give away iPads as prizes. In fact he seemed only slightly abashed.

With election season onto to us in full force, social media has shown us only one disturbing thing. Few – if any – of the candidates advertise their platforms or programs for their tenure. Instead, the air is littered with song and dance routines, wilted motherhood statements, vague promises and ego — lots and lots of ego.

And people have been responding with the jaded askance of the couldn’t-care-less.
