Repercussions



The Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility (RA 6713) states:

Section 5. Duties of Public Officials and Employees. – In the performance of their duties, all public officials and employees are under obligation to:

(a) Act promptly on letters and requests. – All public officials and employees shall, within fifteen (15) working days from receipt thereof, respond to letters, telegrams or other means of communications sent by the public. The reply must contain the action taken on the request.

Senatorial aspirant Jamby Madrigal’s lawyer did not choke on his words when he insisted that it was the candidate’s volunteers who are responsible for the social media “contest” that promised to give away iPads as prizes. In fact he seemed only slightly abashed.

Aman Futures co-accused denies bribe attempt on prosecutors

MANILA -- Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co is confident that he will be cleared of charges linking him to the multi-billion investment scam of the defunct Aman Futures Group Philippines, Inc., his lawyer said Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters, lawyer Trixie Angeles denied reports that her client is allegedly trying to bribe the prosecutors handling the preliminary investigation by asking them to downgrade the syndicated estafa cases against him.

STATEMENT:

The person or persons making baseless accusations that Mayor Samuel Co is allegedly planning to offer bribes to prosecutors, are doing so in order to cast aspersions on what they fear will be an imminent acquittal. In doing so, they directly assail the integrity of the prosecutors of the Department of Justice and indirectly, that of Sec. Leila Delima.

TWENTY-FIVE people have been killed and 150 still missing in the year’s worst landslide in the country. Small scale miners who tunnel in Pantukan’s mines in Mindanao also have made their homes in the area which is unstable already due to tension cracks.

With election season onto to us in full force, social media has shown us only one disturbing thing. Few – if any – of the candidates advertise their platforms or programs for their tenure. Instead, the air is littered with song and dance routines, wilted motherhood statements, vague promises and ego — lots and lots of ego.

And people have been responding with the jaded askance of the couldn’t-care-less.

Pagadian mayor: Amalilio must stand trial in PHL

The camp of Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co, who is implicated in a multi-billion-peso investment scam in Mindanao, described as "disturbing" the imprisonment of Manuel Amalilio, the founder of the firm behind the alleged scam, in Malaysia, saying the embattled businessman should stand trial in the Philippines.
